AdBrite launches spott

AdBrite Launches Spottt - “Free” Link xchange

AdBrite has launched Spottt, (yes 3 t’s) as a way for sites to get free advertising. The “free” advertising is, of course, not really free. You have to put Spottt code on your own site to display other’s ads in the upper portion of your site. This seems fair, but the only catch is that you have to display 2 ads to earn one display of your own. What’s AdBrite going to do with all the extra displays? If I read the user agreement correctly, they can do pretty much anything they want to with them. Nothing’s free in this world and AdBrite will probably do better than break even on this. From the Terms and Conditions:
AdBrite reserves the right to place paid banners on AdBrite”s affiliated sites, its own sites or Participant sites.
Still even with those restraints you can see my Spottt ad listed there on the right, even if it’s not free traffic the cost might be worth paying. The Spottt page itself has a basic stats package that shows you how many displays and clicks have happened at your site and how many displays and clicks of your ad have occurred. Here’s more info from the launch notification:
The time has come. We launched Spottt today, making free advertising available to everyone on the Internet.
The concept is simple: by joining, you agree to display ads for other members. It’s automated, and uses a small snippet of HTML inserted into any web page, including blogs and MySpace profiles. The amount of free advertising you receive is directly proportional to the amount you give to others. Spottt ads are 125×125 pixels.
Bonus: As an early signer-upper, we’ll put 1,000 free credits in your account. Just visit
http://www.spottt.com/ and sign up with the promotion code: SPOTTTBETA
